Social - 6:45 pm
Short Business Meeting & Program - 7:15 pm
Fireside Room at Gateway

The club will provide drinks and snacks for a social at 6:45 pm; at 7:15 pm there will be a short business meeting followed by a 50/50 raffle. The evening’s program will feature Sharon D. Henderson.

At the age of three, Sharon began singing in the churches of Oakland. She started her career singing Gospel music and it is still a mainstay of her musical repertoire. Sharon has performed with both the Voices of Christ and the Northern California Gospel Music Workshop of America. She is also a soloist with the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. In 2016, she recorded her first solo recording, “Through It All”.

When she is happy or sad, in every situation life presents, she sings. Sharon believes in the healing and restorative power of music. She sees music as a source of joy and rejuvenation. It is her wish to be a healing presence in the world.

PRESIDENT’S REMARKS FROM KAREN McCALLISTER

Life is a journey, and each of us has undertaken a journey to Rossmoor. Some of us came thousands of miles and others just across the bridge or down the road, but it was a journey to something new. I know when I moved here from Michigan it was a complete life change for me. I have had to learn the California way of life, the differences in the seasons, what a drought is, the smell of smoke from a wildfire, even the vibrations of an earthquake. What made the transition easier for me was joining The Connection and meeting so many wonderful women. I found instant friends. The following quote is what inspired me to write this. “It’s the friends you meet along the way that help us appreciate the journey.”

DIRECTOR WANTED

One of the purposes of The Connection is Charitable Outreach. Our 2019 Director unfortunately had to resign. Many of the duties listed in the following job description have already been done.

2. Sell 50/50 Tickets at the General Meeting: 50% of the proceeds go to The Connection Charity Outreach Fund and 50% to the winning ticket holder.

3. Ride to Meeting: Collect names of members willing to offer a ride to any member unable to attend a General Meeting because she is unable to drive. Put a notice in The Connection Newsletter that rides are available and to contact you with your phone number and email address.

4. Binder: Maintain a binder of all duties, tasks, checklists, and correspondence to turn over at the end of your term to the incoming Director.

5. Meetings: Attend, if at all possible, all Board and General meetings.
