May 28 Memorial Day Picnic

The Dollar Patio has been reserved for Connection members and their guests for a potluck picnic on Memorial Day, May 28, starting at 4:00 p.m. The reservation fee for the picnic is $5.00, and the last day to sign up for the picnic is Wednesday, May 23. Leave reservation checks in the Connection mailbox at Gateway marked "Memorial Day Picnic."

The club will provide chicken for the main course, as well as wine, lemonade, and disposable plates, cups, and cutlery. Those attending are asked to bring food to share according to the chart below. Potluck Dishes to bring if your last name begins with:

  • A through B: Green salads and dressing
  • C through J: Other salads or side dishes (potato, bean, pasta, fruit, etc.)
  • K though Q: Desserts
  • R though Z: Appetizers

Provide all food ready to serve, and include serving utensils. It is a good idea to label your dishes and utensils before bringing them. The food amount should serve six people. Remember, if planning to seat a group, only seven of the new Dollar Clubhouse patio chairs fit comfortably around a table, not eight as in the past.

This is a good way to interest your friends in joining The Connection. Be sure to give Betty the name of your guest with their reservation fee, and tell her whether you wish to increase the size of your dish or if your guest will bring a dish as requested above. If you have any questions, contact us.

Note: Weather is usually good in May, but last year we experienced a rare cold day. Should it turn cold, bring your warm jackets, as this is planned as an outdoor event, and we do not have use of the clubhouse for dining.

About Us

The Connection is a club open to Rossmoor women of all ages. We are organized to help members connect and make new friends through shared interests. Our special interest groups include book clubs, bridge groups, opera goers, out-to-lunch, out-to-dinner, and theater. If we do not have a group that meets your needs, we will help you find other members to share your interest and start a new group.

With over 225 members, there are plenty of opportunities to connect. We have a monthly meeting with a program of interest and time to socialize, borrow books, and sign up for upcoming activities. And we conduct several catered or pot-luck dinners during the year. We have a regular connection through our monthly newsletter.

The Connection will begin accepting memberships soon for the 2012-2013 year for a fee of $16 for a year membership. For more information, contact us. Or print, fill out, include a check, and mail the membership/interest forms.
