Afternoon Intermediate Social Bridge meets the first Monday of the month in Multipurpose Room #1 at the Gateway Complex from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. There are three or four tables of members. No partners are needed. We play Rubber Bridge and keep score. Top winners at each table move to the next table after each round. We collect a dollar from each player and divide the pot among the top three winners. We would love to have more members join us. If you are interested in playing, please contact Rita Raider on 933-2414, providing your name, telephone number, and email address. We will notify you if there is an available space for you. We would also like to maintain a list of substitutes who can fill in when needed. Send the same information, stating that you would like to be a sub.
Every Monday Social Bridge is canceled for the Holiday season, and is scheduled to resume on Monday, January 7. Drop in at 4033 Terra Granada, E#10, Clubhouse at 10 am - 12 pm. Contact Vickie Stanley on (925)938-3894.
The Connection Club's Marathon Bridge Groups are looking for new members. There are several groups of
teams who play bridge once a month in each other's homes.
The actual date and time of play is decided by the participants. The season lasts from September to June.
A team consists of two partners, who enjoy playing bridge with each other. Twenty hands are played in each
game using Chicago scoring. The main idea is to connect with and meet other bridge players.
Each player donates $10 at the beginning of the season. This is used to fund prizes given to the top three
teams in each group at the end of the season.
All players must join The Connection Club, which sponsors the marathon. Sign-up membership forms are
available in The Connection mailbox at Gateway.
Players are asked to provide their name, telephone number and contact information. The deadline is
Saturday, August 4.
For more information, call June Bechtel at (925)287-1378.
Sections 1-3 of Marathon Bridge has long been a favorite Connection activity and is a great way to get acquainted with other bridge players. In Marathon Bridge every pair of partners plays all the other partnerships in their section, on a once a month schedule. Games are held in the players' homes, and everyone takes a turn hosting. Scores are accumulated, and the winners are celebrated with a luncheon at the end of the year. Contact June Bechtel on 287-1378 if you are interested in this group.
Section 4 of Marathon Bridge is a group of 20 women playing in 10 teams. Each team plays the other 9 teams over 9 months following a schedule. Teams can play whenever they want, mornings, afternoons, evenings or weekends. They schedule their own games. Group 4 needs more members. If interested please phone Paula Nichols at 925-932-8261. The group starts play in September.
Please contact us if you have questions or would like more information.
